Q:  What is new and better?

A:  Easier Navigation, Quicker application process, Customizable Cover Letters and Resumes, Ability to save multiple resumes, Ability to save information as you are completing your profile & resumes, Ability to check your status job, Ability to withdraw from a position, Up to date information, Ability to bookmark jobs, Ability to create and save job searches & more!

Q: Will I still get consideration for positions I applied for?

A: Absolutely.  We have kept all records of the jobs you have previously applied for. You will receive the same consideration whether you have applied using the old or new system.

Q:  Since there is going to be a new system can I resubmit/reapply for positions I had applied for using the old system?

A: You will be unable to resubmit/reapply for positions you have already applied for.  However, hiring managers at UC San Diego will give the same consideration to applicants who have applied using the old system as those who have used the new system.  Hiring managers have also been instructed to contact applicants who have applied using the old system in the event they need further information.

Q:  Can I update my resume for positions I have already applied for?

A: With the transition to this new system further updates of your previous information are unavailable.

Q: Will I have access to my old resume?

A:   Yes, when you create your new profile be sure to use the same contact information you used in the old system and we will attempt to retrieve your old resume and place it in your “My Resume” area.  However… Now that you can customize/upload your resume it is highly recommend that you do this.

Q: Will I be able to view my status for positions I have already applied for?

A:   Yes, when you create your new profile be sure to use the same contact information you used in the old system and we will attempt to retrieve your old history and place it in your “My Current Status” area.

Q: Can I continue to apply for positions up to August 19, 2008?

A:   Yes.

Q:  Will I be required to create a new profile if I applied before August 19, 2008 or will the new system keep my old one?

A: Since this is a new system you will be required to create a new profile.  There are new questions in the profile which will need to be completed.  The process is much easier and it will save your work as you complete each section.
