Exception Before You Begin
To initiate an exception, the appointment must meet one of the following conditions:
- 1. The appointment is at 40% or less for 12 months. - or -
- 2. The appointment is at any % of time for 150 days or less.
NOTE:If you anticipate this appointment exceeding time limit allowed for Exceptions, you may want to consider recruiting your candidate through Temporary Employment Services which allows for a longer working timeframe. Discounts may apply.
Student to Staff Before You Begin To convert a student position to a staff position, all of the following conditions must be met:- 1. The student must have been employed in the hiring department for three consecutive quarters, not including the summer quarter.
- 2. The position must be classified in a staff payroll title.
- 3. The Staff appointment is within the quarter following registration.
- 4. The Staff appointment must begin the day after the student appointment ends – there cannot be a break in service.
Recruitment Waiver Before You Begin To waive the recruitment process, all of the following conditions must be met:- 1. The individual is qualified.
- 2. The waiver is for necessary business reason(s) i.e., demonstrated recruitment difficulty, transfer of function, or limited term project.
- 3. The appointment is at 50% or more for longer than six months.
